We were delighted to welcome many of our clients to our recent Employee Benefits Seminar at the Fitzwilliam Hotel. The focus of the seminar was about providing the right structures to empower employees to make informed choices about their financial planning, including pension and healthcare benefits. It is important to engage employees so that they take individual responsibility for themselves now and their future retirement.
Pat Gilroy, CEO Dalkia Ireland and UK, and All-Ireland winning Dublin manager, shared with us, his experiences of empowering teams to achieve their goals. He highlighted how important it is to empower players to decide for themselves what the key actions are to ensure success in a match. That way, they buy in to the strategy and feel a sense of ownership of it, which motivates them to achieve their goals. He also demonstrated how clear communication is crucial to ensure that everyone is on board and for some, that may mean old school face to face communication, whereas for the next generation it can mean online communications as the key channel. You need to adapt to ensure communication is clear for all, as this underpins getting your message across so that everyone is aligned to achieve the desired result.
We demonstrated how employment patterns have changed over the last 40 years and employees now have a greater need to control their own destiny and empowerment is key to facilitating this. Empowerment means arming employees with advice and information to help them decide how to deal with their finances. In our experience at Acumen & Trust, face to face advice combined with easy to use online tools, is the best combination to enable employees to decide for themselves.
