We were interviewed recently for an article which appeared in the Sunday Business Post on 6th October. We highlighted how there are many lessons to be learnt from the turbulent markets crash in 2008, where many Irish pension funds suffered falls of over 30%. However, not everyone has asked themselves the right questions to learn from that time. For employers the key questions are ‘Has our investment strategy changed since 2008? Does it take account of my employee’s different risk tolerance levels?’
While some lessons have been learned, many insurance companies and fund managers have chosen to continue with the one-size-fits-all default investment strategies as before. However employers can empower employees to calculate their risk tolerance level and select and investment strategy that matches the level of risk they are willing to take from the investment opportunities on offer.
At Acumen & Trust we combine independent advice with user-friendly online tools to empower employees to make an informed choice and take control of their own pension destiny.
